歌の背景
1821年입니다만,"Home sweet home"가 그 안의 한 曲으로서 불려진 것은, 이 opera가 London의 Covent Garden에서 上演된 1823年의 일입니다.
作詞者는 美國人의 John Howard Payne(1791-1852). Paine은, 美國•Commonwealth州의 名家의 아들로서 태어나 巨大한 英國에 移住. 처음은 俳優로서 活躍했습니다만, 그 다음은 著作에 專念, 晩年에는 美國 領事로서 아프리카•튀니스에 赴任해, 거기서 死亡하였습니다.
埴生の埴은 黄赤色의 粘土로, 埴生는 기와나 陶瓷器의 原料인 찰흙을 産出하는 땅, 또는 찰흙. 「埴生の宿」는 흙벽의 초라한 집의 뜻입니다. 瑠璃는 Sanskrit 로부터 온 말로, 七寶, 卽 古代 印度나 中菊에서 珍貴한 金銀 等 7 種類의 寶石의 하나입니다.
